Two arrested over Dovecot e-bike robbery

Two men have been arrested after a reported e-bike robbery in Dovecot.

Police were called to Lynsted Road at around 2.55pm on Wednesday (February 4) to reports that three armed males threatened another group and stole two e-bikes.

The suspects reportedly travelled towards the road, where armed officers attended and were able to detain two males, who were taken into custody for questioning.

A 25-year-old man and a 21-year-old man have both been since bailed pending further enquiries after being arrested at the scene on suspicion of robbery.

Detective Inspector Natalie Charlesworth said: “We take all reports of firearms extremely seriously and thanks to our quick response we have been able to detain two suspects.

“Officers remain in the area to carry out inquiries and I want to reassure those who live here that we will never tolerate the use of weapons in our communities.

“We rely on information given to us by the public and this makes a huge difference in identifying suspects, seizing weapons and removing suspects who would bring weapons onto our streets.

“Where people are willing to support the police, we will ensure every possible avenue is progressed to them.
