A Chinese car manufacturer will open its first European headquarters in Liverpool.
Chery Commercial Vehicle (CCV) is set to launch a new operations centre in the city which will support research, engineering and commercial development.
The announcement came as Prime Minister Keir Starmer took part in a state visit to China alongside business representatives including from Jaguar Land Rover.
Liverpool City Council are set to work with CCV to ensure the project delivers lasting social and economic benefits for residents and businesses across the city and wider region.
Council leader Liam Robinson said: “Chery Commercial Vehicle’s choice of Liverpool for its commercial vehicle European base is a major vote of confidence in our city’s capabilities, our workforce and our long-term vision for clean, inclusive growth.
“This partnership has the potential to reshape the future of the car manufacturing sector in our city region – bringing new technologies, new skills and new opportunities to Liverpool and beyond.
“Liverpool’s ties with China – especially our enduring friendship with Shanghai – are long established and deeply valued. Chery Commercial Vehicle’s arrival builds on that history, strengthening our global links while helping us deliver sustainable and connected future.”
