A Liverpool fan has been charged over alleged tragedy chanting.
Nicholas Harpur will appear at Leeds Magistrates Court on January 5, 2026 following the incident at Elland Road last Saturday (December 6).
The 23-year-old from Sefton is charged with a Section 5 public order offence which is said to have taken place during the Reds’ draw with Leeds United.
A police clampdown on tragedy chanting has been in effect since the Crown Prosecution Service made it an actionable offence from the 2023/24 season.
In February this year, an Essex Police officer was sacked after admitting to tragedy chanting in October 2024 while attending a Liverpool-Chelsea game.
Supporters of Manchester United, Tottenham, Manchester City and Crystal Palace were also arrested over using the harmful slurs at Anfield.
