Security guard robbed outside Tesco store

A security guard has been robbed outside at Tesco store in Wavertree.

Police were called to Overton Street at around 9.10am on Monday (November 17) after two men approached a cash in transit van and grabbed a cash box.

It was further reported that the two males were driven away by a third man in a silver car, which was later found abandoned nearby.

Following inquiries, a 40-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of robbery and is currently in police custody where he will be questioned.

Detective Inspector Natalie Charlesworth said: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened.

“If you live in the area or were driving past at the time, please check you CCTV or dashcam footage for anything that might help with the investigation.

“The smallest detail could be the key to finding those responsible and removing them from the streets.”
