Notorious Liverpool bodybuilder Akinwale Arobieke has died.
Emergency services were called to an address on Devonshire Road at around 8.30pm on Tuesday after reports that a man was unresponsive.
Merseyside Police confirmed that a 64-year-old, believed to be Arobieke, was pronounced deceased at the scene in non-suspcious circumstances.
Arobieke was a well-known figure across Merseyside and branded a ‘modern-day bogeyman’ after being jailed for six years in 2003 for harasing 15 men.
He was convicted of breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) which prevented him from touching, feeling or measuring men’s muscles.
In 2016, Arobieke saw a 10-year ban against touching men’s biceps lifted after a successful appeal in which he represented himself in court.
“We can confirm that emergency services were in the Toxteth area following a non-suspicious death last night,” read a Merseyside Police statement.
“At around 8.30pm, officers were made aware of a man in his 60s being found unresponsive at an address in Devonshire Road, Princes Park.
“He was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
“The man’s death is not suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
