Everton fan banned for stadium food theft

An Everton fan has been banned for stealing food at the club’s new stadium.

The man filmed himself walking away with food and drink ordered but not paid for inside Bramley-Moore Dock during February’s inaugural test event at the venue.

He was able to abscond when a member of the catering staff left the counter to make a cup of coffee in the kitchen that was requested as part of the order.

Footage of the incident, which took place as 10,000 supporters attended the Blues’ future home for the first time, sparked outrage after going viral on social media.

Goodison Park chiefs have now confirmed that they identified a 62-year-old man from the Rainhill area as the culprit who has seen his club membership revoked.

“The matter was referred to Merseyside Police and the individual has been dealt with by means of an out-of-court disposal,” said a club spokesperson.

“As part of this resolution, he has agreed to make a donation equivalent to the cost of the stolen items (£12.75) to Everton in the Community.

“In line with the club’s zero-tolerance approach to such behaviour, the individual has also been issued with an indefinite ban from Everton Football Club and his seasonal membership has been revoked.”
