A man’s body has been recovered at the Pier Head in an unexplained death.
Emergency services were called to the Liverpool waterfront area on Sunday morning and discovered the man who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Merseyside Police are working to confirm the identity of the man, who was found on Priory Wharf at around 9.25am, as enquiries continue into his death.
“We can confirm that emergency services were in Birkenhead and Liverpool Pier Head following the discovery of a body yesterday morning, Sunday 2 February,” said a spokesperson.
“At around 9.25am, the body of a man was found at Priory Wharf. He was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
“Officers worked with the Coastguard, NWAS, and MFRS to recover the body to Liverpool and work will be carried out to confirm the man’s identity.
“The death is being treated as unexplained pending further enquiries.”
