Police have arrested two people in connection with a high-speed crash in Kensington last night.
Detectives have arrested a 21-year-old male, shop believed to be the driver, on suspicion of burglary and aggravated unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle.
The vehicle involved is believed to be a Mercedes CLK, which was stolen from an address in Childwall on March 11th.
It is believed that the driver of the car drove off at high speed after seeing a police car en route to an unrelated emergency call, before colliding with white Volkswagen Golf.
The driver was taken to hospital for treatment on a broken leg and later arrested.
A 23 year-old woman, believed to be a passenger in the Mercedes, was also hospitalised with a head injury and arrested this morning on suspicion of unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle.
The two female occupants of the Volkswagen Golf, aged 21 and 18, suffered minor injuries.
The incident occured at the junction of Sheil Road and Prescot Road and was temporarily closed to allow forensic officers to examine the scene.
