A teenager has been taken to hospital following an after-school knife attack.
Emergency services were called to West Derby School shortly after 3pm on Thursday after receiving reports of a stabbing outside the all boys school.
Officer attending the scene in Tuebrook found a teenage boy, believed to be a pupil, had been stabbed in the buttocks with another slash wound to his wrist.
He has since been taken to hospital where his condition is stable.
Merseyside Police confirmed they have arrested a second boy from Liverpool on suspicion of assault in connection with the attack on West Derby Road.
Detective Inspector Jennie Beck said: “Although an arrest has been made, our enquiries continue, and we’d still urge anyone who witnessed the incident, saw any suspicious behaviour, to please contact us. Either tell us directly or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
“The use of knives and any weapons is reckless and will not be tolerated, and can have devastating consequences, not only for the victim and their family but also for the offenders involved.
“I would urge people to educate themselves and speak to their children and family members about the dangers of knife crime.”
