Police hunt attacker behind Wirral sexual assault

Police have appealed for information following the sexual assault of a woman on the Wirral.

The victim was waiting for a taxi on Conway Street, Birkenheadat around 3.40am last Sunday (6 March 2016), she was then picked up by an unknown man driving a white car at the junction of Conway Street and Adelphi Street.

She was then driven to an unknown location, possibly in Liscard, and subjected to a serious sexual assault, before being driven to her destination. The perpetrator is described as a white male, aged between 35-40 years old, of normal build, with a Wirral accent.

He was wearing a black long-sleeved waterproof coat, black trousers (possibly tracksuit bottoms) and a hat with a badge on the front. The car involved is white, possibly a Vauxhall Zafira Tourer.

Merseyside Police detectives are performing intensive investigations in the area, and have appealed to anyone who may have been in the Conway Street area at around 3am on Sunday March 6th.

The victim is currently being supported by specialist officers from the force’s Unity team.
