A 23-year-old man from Liverpool has been killed as a result of a stabbing spree in Birmingham City Centre.
Jacob Billington was killed in the early hours of Saturday morning when a knifeman went on a stabbing rampage in a busy central district of Birmingham.
Jacob was visiting friends in the city when the incident occurred with seven others left injured.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “The man who sadly lost his life in yesterday’s stabbings in Birmingham has today been described as ‘the light of our life’ by his family.
“Jacob Billington was just 23 when he was stabbed in Irving Street as he was out with school friends from Liverpool visiting one of their group who is studying in Birmingham.
“Another friend, also 23, was seriously injured and remains in hospital in a critical condition.”
Detectives have been working round the clock to find the perpetrator and today arrested a 27-year-old man at an address in Selly Oak.
He remains in custody on suspicion of murder and seven counts of attempted murder.
