Alder Hey have confirmed that one of their patients has died as a result of Covid-19.
Whilst the hospitals primary function is to care for children in the current circumstances they had also been caring for some young adults. It has been confirmed that it was one of these patients that died.
An update by NHS England confirmed that Alder Hey Hospital had confirmed a Coronavirus death on April 16. Details of the patient have not been released.
The report also stated that a further 7 patients had died from the killer virus at Liverpool University Hospitals Trust, which covers the Royal, Broadgreen and Aintree hospitals.
There was also a death registered at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital which takes the total number of deaths in the city to 246.
On the Wirral there has been a total of 129 deaths related to the virus.
The most recent update shows that the North West has been worst effected when it comes to deaths from Coronavirus. The latest figures for the region are higher than both London and The Midlands.
