Three arrested over Toxteth night of violence

Three people have been arrested after a 20-minute spate of violence in Toxteth.

Police received reports that a 19-year-old man had suffered multiple stab wounds in the head and chest on Carter Street at 9.54pm on Saturday.

He was taken by hospital, where his condition is currently critical but stable.

It was also reported to officers at the same time that a 20-year-old man had been shot in the local area on Gwent Street, close to Berkley Park.

The victim later self-presented at hospital with a gunshot wound to his hip, which was not believed to be life threatening, and has since been released.

A 17-year-old man was treated by paramedics for a stab wound to his buttocks on Hatherley Close just 20 minutes after the two previous attacks.

Detectives confirmed on Sunday that three people have been detained in connection with two of incidents.

Two men, both from the Toxteth area and aged 17 and 20, were arrested in connection with the stabbing of the 18-year-old on Carter Street.

A 29-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of affray after a 17-year-old was found with a stab wound to his buttocks on Hatherley Close.

All three people arrested have been taken to police stations where they will be interviewed by detectives.
