A man has been killed after ploughing in to a tree near a retail park in Birkenhead.
Emergency services were called to Rock Retail Park in Birkenhead at around 9.30pm on Thursday evening.
A Ford Fiesta is believed to have come off the road, hitting a tree and killing the driver inside the car.
The victim is a man in his 50’s who had driven from the North Wales area. It is understood he travelled along the M53 and New Chester Road before he crashed.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Polcie said “we are investigating following a fatal road traffic collision in Birkenhead last night, Thursday 26 March”.
“At around 9.30pm, emergency services were called to Rock Retail Park, Rock Ferry to reports of a collision involving a Ford Fiesta and a tree.”
“The driver of the car, a man in his 50’s, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. No other vehicles were involved”.
