Bar owner shamed after coronavirus NHS rant

The owner of a bar in Oxton has been forced to apologise over offensive comments made about the NHS and Coronavirus.

Michael Atkinson who owns Oxton Bar and Kitchen called NHS workers “w***ker wannabes” and said that they were twirling their thumbs in empty hospitals.

Posting to social media on Friday night, shortly after it was announced that restaurants and bars had to shut he said “Socialist mouthy fearmongering f*** faces bringing the country to a standstill.

“Literally the only silver lining is that you’ll never get a pay rise … as there’ll be no private sector taxes to fund your irrelevant over stretched fees.

“F*** you social media.”

Many people took to social media to condemn the bar owner for his comments vowing to boycott the establishment when it does reopen.

Atkinson took to social media and said ” Regarding my vile drunken misplaced comments on my personal Facebook page last Friday (deleted immediately) I would like to apologise from the bottom of my heart to anyone offended.

“I’d just heard my business of 16 years was to close. My anger is not with the NHS or key workers, but the government for lack of warning and assistance to the self-employed. Forever sorry.”
