Jaguar Land Rover is to stop production for nine days at its Halewood plant.
The decision has been made based on production schedule and is not thought to be due to Coronavirus.
The plant employs around 4,000 people and 500 agency staff will close for nine days between March 19 – 27.
A spokesperson for the brand indicated that the closure was related to new product launches and ensuring “market demand is balanced globally”.
A full statement said “As part of its standard business practice, Jaguar Land Rover regularly reviews its production schedules to support its launch planning process and to ensure market demand is balanced globally.”
The news of the production stoppage comes just weeks after hundreds of redundancies were announced at the Halewood operation.
