Woman dies in Hunts Cross road crash

A woman has died after being hit by a car in Hunts Cross.

Emergency services were called to Hillfoot Avenue shortly after 5pm on Saturday following a collision between a pedestrian and a Vauxhall Insignia.

The 61-year-old from the Speke area suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital but sadly passed away on Wednesday afternoon.

Police arrested the driver of the car, a 40-year-old Halewood man who stopped at the scene, on suspicion of drug driving shortly after the incident.

However he has subsquently been released under investigation.

The fatal crash came just hours after a 21-year-old man had been thrown from a motorbike in the area after losing control of the vehicle.

He was treated on the scene at the junction of Hillfoot and Woodend Avenue and taken to hospital, where his condition was described as being ‘stable’.

Detectives believe the man was not wearing a helmet while riding the Pulse XF motorbike, thought to have been stolen from an address in Southport.
