A man has been stabbed to death after a row broke out on New Years day at a flat in Wallasey.
Police were called to a flat on Rakersfield Road at 10.25pm as paramedics were treating a man for a stab wound.
The 52-year-old victim was rushed to Arrowe Park Hospital with a stab wound to the chest but died a short time later.
A 39-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. The suspect has been taken in to custody where he will be questioned by detectives.
Crime scene investigators are at the property and are carrying out forensic examinations of the property. House to House enquiries are also being made.
A home office post mortem will take place to establish the cause of death.
