Man stabbed in Anfield car attack

Police are appealing for information after a man was stabbed in his car on Redcar Street, Anfield.

The injured man, who is in his 20s, is believed to have been in a Ford Fiesta car on Redcar Street at around 6.50pm when he was attacked. He suffered puncture wounds and cuts to his body and face and has been taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

An investigation is underway and house-to-house and CCTV enquiries are being carried out in the local area.

Detective Inspector Jennie Beck said: “I would ask anyone who was in the area around Redcar Street this evening who saw anything suspicious to contact us. We believe the injured man was in a car when he was assaulted. At this stage the motive for the attack is unclear but we are keeping an open mind.

“I want the local community to be reassured that we will do everything we can to find the people responsible for this assault and I would ask that anyone who has any information comes forward.”
