Drivers who parked in Liverpool city centre paid more than £3.3m at council-owned pay and display meters in 2015.
Five of the cities streets raised more than £100, price 000 in parking payments in 2015. The highest grossing meters were located within one street generating £387, 955 in parking charges.
A Freedom of Information (FOI) request to Liverpool City Council, medical reported by The Liverpool Echo has uncovered how much council owned car parking areas made in the city in one years.
The highest-earning street in the city is Victoria Street which earned £387,995.15 in 2015.
Mount Pleasant Car Park is the second highest-earning council-owned car park in the city in 2015 which generated £209,881.95.
A City Council spokesman told The Echo: “Pay and display parking is mainly about regulating traffic in the city centre and providing affordable off-street parking. Our anticipated income from parking this year is £2.7m.
“This will be ring-fenced for highway maintenance schemes including the repair of potholes, improving street lighting , the provision and operation of residents’ parking schemes and schemes for disabled drivers.”
