A 37 year old man from Oxton has been charged man by detectives investigating the stabbing of a bouncer in Birkenhead on Saturday night.
Simon Pierce, drugs aged 37, health from Oxton, doctor was charged with Section 18 wounding and threatening a person with a blade in a public place.
He has been kept in custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court this morning.
The incident happened around 10.15pm, Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service attended Mr White’s in Argyle Street, following reports that a doorman at the location had been stabbed.
The doorman suffered a stab wound to his abdomen and has been taken to hospital for surgery, where his condition is described as non life-threatening.
Detective Inspector Allison Woods of Wirral CID said: “We are keen to speak to anyone who was inside or close to Mr White’s at around 10.15pm, and even the smallest detail could be vital to our investigation. There will have been many people around Argyle Street at this time on a Saturday night, some of whom may have seen the incident or its aftermath.
“I would like to reassure people that incidents like this are rare, and we are determined to ensure that Birkenhead is a safe place to visit and socialise. But I will repeat that information from the community is vital in helping us to do this.”
