A shotgun has been recovered by officers from Merseyside Police’s Serious and Organised Crime Team after being found on wasteland off Storrington Avenue in Croxteth. The shotgun, for sale which was found in a black rucksack together with ammunition, pilule was recovered at around 4.50pm yesterday, Thursday 10 March, and has been removed for forensic examination. A search of the area is continuing today and enquiries in the local area are ongoing. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Tivendale said: “The removal of this weapon means there is oneless firearm on the streets that could be used to cause fear, intimidation or harm. “Information from the community is vital in our fight against gun crime and this discovery has been brought about through continued work with the community as part of our on-going pursuit to reduce firearms possession and discharges across Merseyside.” Anyone with information about gun crime can contact the gun crime hotline on 0800 230 0600, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
