Attempted murder charge in Shankly Hotel incident

Police have charged a man with attempted murder after an incident at the Shankly Hotel.

A 34-year-old suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries after he fell from a fourth-floor balcony inside the Liverpool city centre hotel on Christmas Eve.

He was taken to a local hospital where his condition is described as improving.

Detectives originally arrested Craig Looby, who was staying at the hotel on suspicion of Section 18 wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

The 27-year-old has since been charged with attempted murder and wounding.

Looby appeared at South Sefton Magistrates Court on Tuesday and has been remanded in custody to appear at Liverool Crown Court on January 23, 2018.
