Liverpool to look for Main Stand sponsor as redevelopment nears completion

According to City AM, Liverpool FC are looking to secure the new Main Stand sponsorship in the cash-rich Chinese markets.

The clubs chief commerical officer, Billy Hogan, has reportedly travelled to China to meet firms who are interested in branding the new Anfield Main Stand under a sponsorship deal valued at £9M per year.

European giants Atletico Madrid and Manchester City are both part-owned by Chinese firms, while Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Real Madrid have all struck up retail partnerships with the country’s ecommerce giant Alibaba.

At the moment Indonesian Airline, Garuda , pays £5.5 million to sponsor the clubs training kit.

Liverpool are reported to be interested in a similar deal that could promote its branded merchandise in the country.

It seems like a sensible move that Liverpool would aim to exploit a cash-rich market.

Liverpool’s American owners do not intend to sell but are willing to bring investors on board who can offer expertise that they would value – especially if it gives the club significant foothold in China and Asia.
