Security guard injured in Costco smash-and-grab

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to a cash-in-transit robbery in Liverpool.

Officers were called to Costco on Waterloo Road at midday on Wednesday 26 following reports a security guard had been approached by an unknown man.

The male assaulted the security guard before snatching a cash box and running away.

The guard suffered an arm injury and has been taken to hospital for treatment.

It is believed the offender left the area in a white car which was being driven by a second male.

Detectives believe the car and the cash box were later abandoned on St Catherines Road in Bootle.

It is thought the offenders made off in the direction of Walton Lane, possibly in a grey car. It is not clear at this time if any money was taken.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information which could assist with the investigation is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 4065 or the Crimestoppers line anonymously on 0800 555 111.
