A man is in a serious condition after a stabbing in Kirkby last night.
Police discovered the 24-year-old with injuries to his leg, arm and buttock after being called to James Holt Avenue at around 11.45pm on Tuesday.
The victim and another man had been travelling to Kirkby in a taxi before the driver is said to have been threatened by someone in another vehicle.
Detectives believe that the knife attack took place when the two passengers tried to drive the taxi away before it was involved in a crash shortly after.
Detective Inspector Cath Haggerty said: “This investigation is still at an early stage and we are working to piece together exactly what has happened.
“I understand residents must be concerned about an incident such as this happening on their doorstep, but I would like to reassure them that we are working hard to trace those responsible.
“I would like to thank those who have contacted us so far with information, and would continue to urge anyone who has any information about this incident to get in contact.
“We believe the offenders left the scene in a car, possibly a Ford Focus, and would urge anyone who heard or saw anything around this time to give us a call.
“Any information, no matter how small could assist our investigation.”
Anyone who has information about the incident is urged to call 0151 777 6064 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
