Two injured in double shootings across Liverpool

Police are appealing for information after two shootings in Liverpool which were just 90 minutes apart.

Emergency services were called to Jenkinson Street in Everton shortly after 7pm on Wednesday evening following reports that a 19-year-old man had been shot.

He was taken to hospital where he is being treated for a gunshot wound to his leg and buttock although his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

At this early stage of the investigation the motive for the attack is unknown, price although detectives believed it to be targeted.

Detective Sergeant Jones said: “The shooting occurred just after 7pm and I would like to take this opportunity to appeal to anyone who has any information, which could help us identify those responsible, to come forward.

“I would urge members of the public who have any information, which could help us to take positive action against those involved in gun crime and make our streets safer, to pick up the phone and tell us what they know.”

Officers were called to a second shooting just an hour-and-a-half later in West Derby following a separate report of a man being shot.

Before they could reach the scene on Cantril Avenue, a dark car arrived and picked up the victim, who was suffering from gunshot wounds to his legs

A 27-year-old from the city centre arrived at hospital in a dark car and is being treated for his injuries. His condition is not believed to be life threatening.

Merseyside Police have confirmed that the motive is unknown at this early stage of the investigation.

The believe that this too was a targeted attack but that insist that the two incidents are not linked.

Officers and Crime Scene Investigators remain at the scene and extensive enquiries are being carried out to establish the full circumstances of what happened and locate the offender, or offenders.
