A canine charity are looking to find homes for 12 strays this Christmas.
Finding Furever Homes, who sponsor kennels and foster homes for rescue dogs across the UK, have appealed to adopters to come forward and change the life of one of their dogs.
For 12 days starting on December 25, the volunteer-run charity will be using social media to focus on each of their 12 strays each day.
The idea is to give all of them a day in the spotlight in the hope someone will feel compelled to offer them a new home.
Andrea Newton, trustee and founder of Finding Furever Homes, said: “We all know dogs aren’t just for Christmas.
“But we wanted to use this special time of year when people are thinking about helping others, and ask them to spare a thought for the wonderful dogs in rescue who are looking for someone to give them a new life.”
“To be able to find new homes for all ‘12 Strays of Christmas’ would be a wonderful way to bring in the New Year. If you think you can make a Christmas wish come true, we’d love to hear from you.”
The ’12 strays of Christmas’ are:
Paddy, a two-year-old male crossbreed
Ariana, a two-year-old female crossbreed
Genie, a four-year-old female lurcher
Johnny, a three-year-old male greyhound
Pete, a three-year-old male lurcher-cross
Tigger, a one-year-old male Staffordshire bull terrier-cross
Blue, a one-year-old American Bulldog
Clyde, a one-year-old male lurcher
Bob, a four-year-old male lurcher
Shadow and Chance, three-year-old male crossbreeds (to be re-homed together)
With any of the dogs mentioned during the 12-day period, people are first asked to agree to be ‘Rescue Ready’ before approaching the charity to adopt.
To help rescue dogs settle in to their new homes, Finding Furever Homes is happy to offer the services of a qualified behaviourist if needed.
Finding Furever Homes are happy to re-home dogs anywhere in England and Wales, subject to suitable home checks.
