A man is in a critical condition after being stabbed in an Anfield street attack.
Officers were called to Breck Road at around 7.40pm on Thursday after the victim flagged down a paramedic in the area.
The man is believed to be in his late 30s suffered knife wounds to his body and legs and was taken to hospital, where his current condition is described as being critical but stable.
Detectives cordoned off part of Breck Road shortly after the incident as well as a number of nearby junctions and side streets.
Forensic teams are continuing to comb the scene for clues this morning.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that an investigation is underway with both house-to-house and CCTV enquiries ongoing in the local area.
