A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm following an incident at The Strand this morning.
Police partially cordoned off the area after officers were called to the Liverpool One bus station at around 7.10am after reports that a car had been damaged.
The 19-year-old man was arrested shortly after at the nearby Liverpool Echo arena and taken to a police station where he will be questioned by detectives.
He was arrested on suspicion of possessing a Section 1 firearm and criminal damage.
No firearm was found but a knife was recovered at the scene, which will remain closed and cordoned off for forensic examination by detectives.
