Police have confirmed that a woman’s body found in Bromborough woodland is that of missing Wirral mum Anita Stevenson.
The 39-year-old had not been seen since leaving her Birkenhead home on October 18 with her final movements captured on CCTV in Rock Ferry that day.
Stevenson’s body was found by a member of the public on Saturday morning.
A post mortem into the Bradford native’s death has taken place and the results are being withheld pending toxicology reports.
Anita’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
A 41-year-old man from Birkenhead was previously arrested on suspicion of her murder but was later released on bail.
