Police swooped on a Wavertree house after a man was threatened with a gun at a Wavertree house party.
Officers were called to Ferndale Road at around 8am on Saturday following reports that a man had been injured.
The man, who suffered cuts and bruising to his face, claimed that he had been to a party with his girlfriend when argument broke out with two men.
It is alleged that the men threatened him with a gun and assaulted him.
Armed response officers arrested two men, aged 34 and 30, both from Wavertree, and recovered two BB guns and a decommissioned shotgun.
The two arrested men were taken to separate police stations where they were questioned by detectives and released pending further inquiries.
