Liverpool FC fans among English football’s most banned

Liverpool FC fans have been named among the highest ranked clubs for banning orders, new Government figures have revealed.

Supporters of the Anfield club were the subject of 49 orders according to statistics revealed by the Home Office about football-related arrests.

Only Newcastle United (142), Chelsea (60), Millwall (57) and Wolverhampton Wanderers (52) had more followers suspended than their Reds counterparts.

Although only six of Liverpool’s banning orders were enforced last season, the club topped the Premier League’s table for pyrotechnics-related arrests.

Nine people were detained for possessing flares and smoke bombs last term, making up almost a quarter of the league’s 39 grand total of 39.

Over 2,000 football-related arrests were made last season, with Liverpool accounting for 40 of them which placed the club in joint 15th nationally.

Everton supporters were subject to 39 arrests in the previous season but this figure was not reflected in the numbers subsequently banned.
