Whether you’re a tourist or a local, it’s always a great time to enjoy city centre once the sun sets. For tourists – whether fellow English or international – Liverpool is showing itself as a much more affordable and exciting contrast to the big city down south.
Trying Something On the Wild Side
We’ll mention some of the pubs and clubs later, but let’s start off with something that might be a surprise to you people who like to try new things in the bedroom. Over the last several years, casual sex and open relationships have become a lot more popular, and that’s why hiring an escort for some fun companionship is no longer something that will elicit a shock. In fact if you check out some Liverpool Escort Reviews, you’ll find that there are plenty of lovely ladies who would love to hang out with you for the evening and then show you a great time back at their place.
Albert Dock
There’s no better way to reinvigorate a historical area than (carefully) revamping it into a drinking, eating and shopping venue, and Albert Dock is a great example of this being done right. During the day there are plenty of shops and activities for the whole family, and doing the night you have some amazing choices not just with food, but drinks as well. For a traditional pub you can’t beat The Pumphouse, for those looking for a pirates themed placed to raise a glass there’s the The Smuggler’s Cove, if you want to dance with cocktails in your hands (and spill a bit perhaps) you can visit Revolution, and if you want to really try something a bout different there’s Turncoat, which a working gin distillery where you can simple their wares, all of which are made in small batches.
Raising a Glass to the Fab Four
We’ve come to accept that you barely get to the word ‘pool’ when you tell a traveller where you’re from before they saying something about The Beatles. But as far as things to be famous for, you can’t really complain, and it’s nice to see plenty of places embrace this part of heritage in a genuine way. Yes, sticklers will remind us that Abbey Road is the recording studio all the way down in London, but the new Abbey Road Bar and Grill on Harrington Street does a great job at celebrating the bands music and iconography while still providing great food and drinks. And they even have a 1AM license, so you should be able to remember ‘the night before’ (sorry, couldn’t resist).
And yes, the famous Cavern Club is still kicking sixty years after the band first got noticed there, and it’s still a great venue to see some live music (yes, including some very stellar Beatles cover bands). Of course you’ll find plenty of memorabilia on the walls, and that includes the two stages, the pub, and the restaurant as well. The entire neighbourhood is known as the Cavern quarter, and if you are looking for Irish bars and other great music spots, this is the place to be.
Bars That Go Above and Beyond
Drinks are easy to come by, atmosphere is a bit harder to nail down, and adding something a little bad can make you legendary. And for starters, that’s where Lane7 comes in, because not only is it a late night staple, but you don’t just go there for the lager, but their namesake. They have seven lanes of bowling available, as well as plenty of other sports that end up being a lot more interesting after a few points. Pool tables and ping pong are the best sort of games where you can make additional drinking rules on the fly, while with darts you just have to be carefully until the appetizers arrived so it can soak up that last glass sitting in your stomach.
Modo is three venues in one, and no matter what sort of music you want to groove to, you’ll end up in heaven here. The Paradiso section is the more relaxed and chill, especially when you can head up to the rooftop terrace and look out onto the city below. If you really want to get into the heavier beats, the Underground club (sensibly, you’ll find it in the basement) is the place to be.
Eat Me & Preach is a queer-friendly performance show where drag is just the tip of the iceberg. It is a wild time right from the start, and the fact that you are going to get heartfelt poetry one minute and confetti explosions the next can tell you just how wild can be. If you want an edgy night drenched in rainbows that can be a lot of fun, you shouldn’t miss this show at The District.
Alma De Cuba brings an incredible Latin American and Caribbean flavour to the Ropeworks area. Of course there are going to be delicious tapas and cocktails, but there are also amazing floor shows that celebrate the Carnival spirit. And to really throw you for a loop, the venue is an 18th century church, and is mostly lit by candles. A great place to book private parties and events.
Hen & Stag Parties
As destination parties are becoming more and more of thing, Liverpool has easily snatched the title from London to be the best spot to go for the weekend with your best buds or girlfriends before you get hitched. Signature Living has some of the best packages for any sort of group party, and whether you know the city well and just want someone to organize everything, you won’t be disappointed.
