Plas Talgarth is a short journey from Liverpool as is nestled within Snowdonia National Park. It is 15 minutes from the coastal village of Aberdyfi and is able to offer guests the very best of both worlds with mountains and seaside within touching distance.
The area is extremely popular with sports enthusiasts and hill walkers due to it’s close proximity to a number of popular points. There truly is something for everyone with the nearby Dyfi National Nature Reserve which is perfect for avid bird watchers.
The Wales Coastal Path runs through the resort and offers a truly lovely short walk ( or long If you’d prefer) directly from the site. Dogs are welcome and so the entire family can come and enjoy. There are a number of other activities for the family on site such as Tennis Courts, Play Areas and Putting Greens.
Additionally this stunning resort offers two pools – one indoor and one outdoor. Whilst it was a little too chilly to try out the outdoor pools – the indoor pool is spacious, warm and perfect for all of the family. The changing rooms are spacious and extremely tidy.
There are a number of different accommodations available on site from Studio Apartments to Three Bedroom Apartments allowing for parties of any size to enjoy a relaxing break in the Welsh Mountains. The resort is owned by Macdonald Resorts and as such with 20 years’ experience of providing holidays you can be sure that you will be put up in outstanding accommodation with no detail gone unchecked.
We stayed in a three bedroom apartment which was extremely spacious. Downstairs was a kitchen diner area and one double en-suite bedroom. There is a patio area with space for a barbecue and to sit out if the weather allows for it. The equipment is well taken care of and modern and there are plenty of utensils and supplies for all those staying in the apartment.
Upstairs you have the lounge area, a twin bedroom, bunk bed room and bathroom. All of which are spacious, well kept and perfect for family trips. The lounge area deserves a special mention due to the breath-taking views. The elevated position allows for stunning views of the Welsh Mountains through the floor to ceiling windows. It truly had magnificent views (and a very large television) making it perfect to unwind in.
We were lucky enough to dine in the resort’s Y Garth Restaurant, situated above the on-site pub. Y Garth is a modern establishment which fully embraces local produce to offer the highest quality hearty and tasty food. They offer a lunch and evening menu – we dined during the evening as a table of 4. One of us has a gluten intolerance and as such we had dietary requirements to tackle however this proved absolutely no issue for the staff at the restaurant.

We had a full 3 course menu and had everything from Soup to Curry. There was not one thing that was not served beautifully and tasted even better. It’s clear the chef and staff at the restaurant work had to make everyone’s experience outstanding and they do so. There are many options on the menu including Pizza, Steak, Hake and Vegan Options. The carefully curated menu is sure to have something for everyone.
The restaurant is reasonably priced whilst offering a special family experience and so comes highly recommended. It is the perfect treat to round off a stay at this special resort.
Each and every member of staff we came across was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were cared for. There is a central hub which is home to the indoor pool, spa and reception. It is decorated well and a friendly face is always there to greet you.
Whilst we did not have the chance to try the spa – the staff seemed friendly and everything looked to be decorated well. The highest quality of products such as Elemis and Bare Minerals were used. I understand any number of spa treatments can be booked and include everything from a massage to a make up lesson.
This is a truly beautiful resort and is luxurious yet family orientated. We really enjoyed a relaxing two night break here but it would be very easy to stay for a full week with so much to do in the local area as well as on site. It is the perfect package with stunning accommodation, lovely walks and divine dining options all within a few minutes’ walk of your apartment. I highly recommend Plas Talgarth resort and very much look forward to returning.
