Liverpool is a model of modern Britain. It is a thriving university city with a heap of cultural nuances that give it a unique identity, added to by its sporting, music and industrial history.
While there’s far too much to get through in one visit, we’ve selected just a few of the top places to see while taking in the city that gave you the Beatles, skyscrapers and mass transit.
The waterfront and dock
Liverpool is home to a very famous area on its waterfront that has a number of interesting historical building and places to visit.
Being the heart of the city for much of the 19th and early 20th century, Liverpool’s dock is now home to several bars, restaurants and attractions that play into the heritage and cultural history of the area.
The most famous of the city’s docks is the Royal Albert Dock, which houses the largest single collection of Grade I listed buildings anywhere in Britain. It was built in 1846 and allowed ships to offload directly into huge warehouses.
Other sites of interest at the docks are the Tate Museum, the Slavery Museum and the Beatles Story, which takes visitors through the history of the city’s most famous band.
China Town
Believe it or not, Liverpool has its very own China Town where visitors can experience some exquisite Chinese cuisine and culture.
Chinese shipmen first came to Liverpool in the 1830s, adding to the rich fabric of the city that now includes this unique area under the Paifang style.
Casino experience

The football experience
In case you didn’t realise, Liverpool is home to two Premier League football teams, both with historic stadiums that are the perfect place to visit for any footie fan. You can take a tour at both Goodison Park or Anfield with clubs offering various packages to the public.
