Regarded as the “the most influential fashion week outside London for launching new designers’” the Liverpool Fashion Week is just around the corner. This year, indeed, this highly anticipated event will be held at The British Music Experience during the second week of October (Monday 8 and Tuesday 9). The following are some of the things you can expect from the 2018 edition.
Mark your agenda for the New Talent Night
Discovering and promoting new talent is what the Liverpool Fashion Week is all about. For this reason, there are high expectations regarding the New Talent Night on Tuesday, 9th of October. After an opening performance by Girl Talk, the following are the designers that will take the stage that night:
- What’s Your Skirt
- AndReal
- Beth Hilton
- UR
- Designs by Amy Hewitt
The previous night (opening day), the event will feature a Glamour Night with designers like GoGairy, Studio 149, Boux Avenue and United Colours of Benetton.
Showcases for everyone
Showcases are at the centre of the Liverpool Fashion Week, and this year we will have a nice variety of designs coming our way. From UR’s meaningful clothing aimed at creating a positive conversation around mental health to the hand painted leathers of Yorkshire’s GoGairy, there will be lots to see this year.
Also, people looking for some specific items will find various options at The British Music Experience. For instance, if you are into leather accessories and luxurious shoulder bags for women, you should get ready for the latests designs that Andrea Benahmed Djilali from AndReal will bring this year to Liverpool.
Flat shoes are cool again
This is one of the most defining elements of this year’s event. In particular, this initiative carried out by Amanda Moss, the organiser of the Liverpool Fashion Week, wants to tackle the anxiety that models experience in the catwalk when they have to wear high heels. Apart from that, “flat shoes can be sexy and glamorous. Today is actually trendier to wear a suit with flats, say sparkly trainers for example,” argues Amanda Moss.
So, there you have it. As you can see, there is a lot to discover in the year’s Liverpool Fashion Week so hurry up to get your tickets because the event is almost here!
