Liverpool FC reject latest Crystal Palace offer for Christian Benteke

Crystal Palace have seen a fresh bid for Christian Benteke rejected by Liverpool.

An initial £25 million approach for the striker was rebuffed earlier this summer but the Reds have subsequently snubbed a deal worth in the region of £30M.

Anfield officials are hopeful of recouping the bulk of Benteke’s £32 million price tag last summer and have turned down Palace’s offer of a structure deal for the player.

It would have seen the Belgium international move to Selhurst Park for an initial £23 million with future add-ons potentially seeing the overall fee rise to £30M.

However Liverpool remain determined to receive an up-front fee closer to the figure they paid Aston Villa little over 12 months ago rather than in staggered payments.

Palace’s Premier League rivals West Brom are also said to be monitoring developments on Benteke’s future in the event of losing Saido Berahino.
