Jeremy Corbyn set to stage Labour rally at St George’s Hall

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn will visit Liverpool in efforts to stave off a challenge to his premiership.

Mr Corbyn received a vote of no confidence from his party peers amid a series of resignations from the Shadow cabinet, including three Merseyside MPs.

But the politician for Islington North is set to take his battle to St George’s Plateu with a rally beginning at 7pm on Monday evening.

Also speaking at the event will be grassroots Labour councillors Peter Mitchell, Alice Bennett and Joann Kushner.

Corbyn’s Liverpool visit comes just days after his nearest challenger to the leadership Owen Smith met members in the city and took part in the Pride march.
