Liverpool Airport marks busiest summer ever

Liverpool John Lennon Airport has reported new summer passenger records.

More than 650,000 holidaymakers made their way through the Speke terminal throughout August to break its biggest-ever summer after just 12 months.

The surge in numbers marked a 6% increase on 2025 and highlights LJLA’s continued growing popularity amongst travellers from across the North West.

Over 4,000 flights headed to 80 destinations in 25 countries with Dublin proving the busiest route with Alicante topped the Mediterranean destinations.

Robin Tudor, LJLA’s Head of PR & Communications, said: “This is a further milestone for the airport and achieved despite 2026 being a challenging year so far for the aviation industry.

“As well as continuing to increase passenger numbers, everyone here has been working hard over the summer to ensure that our passengers continue to have a great experience too, continuing to give passengers the faster, easier, friendlier journey through the airport that we are renowned for.”
