Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is attracting interest from three European clubs.

Elliott’s first-team prospects suffered a fresh blow after he was left out by Andoni Iraola for last weekend’s Premier League opener at Newcastle.

The Reds’ head coach compounded the 23-year-old’s hopes by admitting ‘I still prefer other options’ ahead of including him in the matchday squad.

A second loan in as many seasons appears likely for Elliott before Tuesday’s transfer deadline with a trio of continental teams currently vying for him.

Valencia along with Serie A duo Napoli and Lazio are understood to be leading the chase for the former England under-21 international.

Elliott endured a dismal loan spell at Aston Villa last term where he found himself restricted to just nine appearances in all competitions for the club.

His stay with Unai Emery’s side was set to be made permanent for a fee of £35 million once he made 10 Premier League outings during the spell away.

But the stipulation led to him being underused with Villa boss Emery branding the saga ’embarrassing’ after pleas to alter the loan’s terms were rejected.
