Dominik Szoboszlai believes he can be ‘even better’ after signing a new Liverpool deal.
Szoboszlai entered the final two years of his previous Anfield contract this summer and regularly made no secret of a desire to see his stay at the club extended.
The Hungary international emerged as a key player for the Reds following his arrival from RB Leipzig in July 2023 as one of Jurgen Klopp’s final-ever signings.
He was an integral figure in the team which won a 20th Premier League title under Arne Slot and has contributed 28 goals and 24 assists in 147 appearances to date.
Szoboszlai’s representatives had been locked in talks with the Reds’ hierarchy over several weeks after resuming negotiations at the end of the previous campaign.
And the 25-year-old has now put pen to paper on improved terms which will see his future on Merseyside safeguarded until at least the end of June 2031.
“It’s maybe my biggest day,” Szoboszlai told Liverpool’s official website.
“There are a couple in front of it – probably when I signed for Liverpool the first one and when I got my baby, of course.
“But in my football career, I can say this is in the top three.”
He added: “I think I can do even better. “I think that’s why I’m sitting here, because that pushed me since I was a kid – that it was never enough.
“And I’m thinking the same now. I want to set the example. I want to be an example also for everyone, as much as I can.
“When I signed, I said I want to win everything. That didn’t change for a little moment either. It stayed the same.
“I want to win everything that is possible in this country, also let’s say the Champions League.”
