Mamadou Sakho’s Liverpool FC future in doubt after tour expulsion

Liverpool have sent Mamadou Sakho home from their pre-season tour of America.

Jurgen Klopp took the decision to end the French defender’s stay with the Reds’ squad just weeks after he was cleared by UEFA of doping offences.

Sakho will miss the start of the new Premier League season with an Achilles problem but has been ordered to continue his rehabilitation back at Melwood.

Lucas Leiva and Joe Gomez are also injured but have been allowed to remain at the club’s training camp in California.

Klopp is understood to have become concerned about Sakho’s attitude and influence during Liverpool’s preparations for the International Champions Cup.

The 26-year-old last played featured in April’s Merseyside derby win over Everton which was followed by a subsequent suspension for a failed drugs test.
