Ryan Gravenberch is out of Liverpool’s latest Champions League clash.
Gravenberch was a doubt for Wednesday’s trip to Eintracht Frankfurt after sustaining an ankle injury during last weekend’s defeat to Manchester United.
Arne Slot confirmed that the Netherlands international would be assessed after twisting twisted his ankle early in the second half of the Anfield reversal.
But Gravenberch was a notable absence from open training at the AXA Training Centre on Tuesday ahead of the Reds’ encounter in Germany.
“Unfortunately, he’s not ready to play tomorrow,” confirmed Slot.
“That already means I definitely have to change one player and with him not being there, that might mean something for others as well.
“Because he has such a particular quality in our squad, which we’ve seen when we played Bournemouth, for example, [and] the Community Shield – that we missed a little bit of a player that was always protecting our back four.
“Ryan is not available for the Frankfurt game, hopefully he will be available at the weekend.
“But it’s an ankle injury, we have to wait and see, give him a bit of time and see where he is when we come back from Frankfurt.”
Liverpool, meanwhile, will be able to call on fellow midfielder Wataru Endo after he missed successive league games with a hamstring problem.
Alexis Mac Allister is also in contention to take on Die Adler despite an early head injury against United which required four stitches to allow him to play on.
