Arne Slot has hinted Luis Diaz could continue to operate as a striker for Liverpool.
Diaz racked up a hat-trick for the club from the central position as Slot’s side put Bayer Leverkusen to the sword in Tuesday’s Champions League clash.
The Colombia international became the latest member of the Reds’ attacking options to operate at the fulcrum after being picked ahead of Darwin Nunez.
And Slot admitted that he may continue to utilise Diaz in the position with viable alternatives currently limited by injuries to the likes of Diogo Jota.
He said: “If we have our injuries like we have at the moment then this could happen.
“But that also depends on who is available and how the other team lines up, what the formation is.
“Last season, I think if both of them played – Cody Gakpo and Lucho – then it was more Cody who played as a nine and Lucho as an 11, and that’s also a possibility.
“But then we had maybe, again, this height from Cody against [Jonathan] Tah instead of someone who’s a bit more versatile and who drops into the midfield.”
