Everton legend Joe Royle has been honoured at their Finch Farm training ground.
Next month marks 30 years since Royle returned to his boyhood club as manager, winning the 1995 FA Cup during a two-and-a-half year spell at Goodison Park.
He rejoined the Blues for a third time in 2014 as a development coordinator who also stepped in as joint caretaker with David Unsworth for the final game of 2015/16.
In recognition of his contribution to the Blues in a variety of roles including a fearsome striker, his name is now set to adorn the walkway to Finch Farm itself.
Joe Royle Lane runs from the Halewood complex’s entrance gates to the main building which houses the club’s first team, women’s and academy ranks.
Everton’s interim chief executive Colin Chong said: “Joe is genuine Everton royalty and it is absolutely appropriate that he should be recognised in this fashion.
“I have had the privilege of getting to know Joe and being in his company and he is an incredibly warm, witty and intelligent family man as well as being a passionate Evertonian.
“There are not many people that have had a greater impact on this football club than Joe Royle, and today we have seen how proud he and his family are of this deserved dedication.”
