Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats set to return to Liverpool Empire

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats will return to the Liverpool Empire Theatre next month.

Following on from its success at the London Palladium, the record-breaking 2015 Olivier award-nominated production returns to Merseyside for one week only from Monday July 11 until July 16 2016.

Based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, Cats first returned to the West End in 2014.

One of the longest-running shows in West End and on Broadway, the feline tale received its world premiere at the New London Theatre in 1981 where it played for 21 record-breaking years and almost 9,000 performances.

And after its reappearance for a second season at the London Palladium this Christmas, the production is now set to embark on a new tour that will carry them through to 2017.

The production was the winner of the Olivier Award for Best Musical, while in 1983, the Broadway production received a staggering seven Tony awards.

Cats has been performed in over 30 countries, accumulating in excess of 50 million views world-wide in the process. The famous Lloyd Webber score includes hit song Memory, which has been recorded by over 150 artists, including Barbra Streisand and Barry Manilow.

Tickets for the must-see show are on sale now.
