Everton rounded off deadline day with a late deal for Armando Broja.

The out-of-favour Chelsea striker has been on the radar at Goodison Park for the previous two summers, dating back to Frank Lampard’s time with the club.

But Sean Dyche’s side finally made their move shortly before Friday’s 11pm market cut-off, which afforded them additional time to submit a deal sheet.

Broja, who is currently sidelined with a foot injury, moves to the Blues on an initial season-long loan with an option to make the deal permanent thereafter.

“Having monitored Armando’s journey for a number of years, we’re very pleased to have been able to bring him to the club,” said director of football Kevin Thelwell.

“Armando is still a young player who has already built up some impressive experience but someone we also feel has lots more potential to be unlocked.

“First and foremost, we will work with him to get him fit as soon as possible. Then, his addition will strengthen our options in the attacking department.”

The Albania international marked Everton’s second deadline day loan signing after they tied up a deal for Lyon midfielder Orel Mangala earlier on Friday.

Mangala returns to the Premier League barely six months after his two-year spell with Nottingham Forest was ended for a switch to the Ligue 1 side.

“We want competition for places throughout our squad and his loan signing gives us extra options and adds depth to our midfield,” explained Dyche.

“Orel has Premier League experience, which is important to help him adjust as quickly as possible, and his performances for Belgium and in Europe underline the quality he can bring to us at Everton.”

Mangala and Broja’s arrivals rounded off a deadline day where outgoings had largely dominated the agenda at Goodison with four confirmed departures.

Neal Maupay is set to seal a permanent exit for Merseyside after his initial loan move to Marseille was confirmed that contains an obligation to buy.

The French forward departs with a paltry return of one goal in 32 outings but will net Dyche’s side around £8.4 million by leaving permanently next summer.

Mason Holgate, meanwhile, embarked on a fourth loan spell during his time with Everton by joining West Brom for the second time in six seasons.

Holgate originally moved to the Hawthorns midway through the 2018/19 campaign making 23 appearances before returning to his parent club.

The defender’s return to the Championship club is a straight loan on account of his existing contract with the Toffees expiring at the end of this season.

Elsewhere, academy prospects Francis Okoronkwo and Billy Crellin made temporary moves to Salford City and Accrington Stanley respectively.
