John Textor has revived his bid to become Everton’s new owner.
Textor fired the unofficial starting pistol on this summer’s battle of control by admitting he would be keen to buy out Farhad Moshiri’s 94.1% majority share.
The 58-year-old is continuing to seek offers for his 45% in Crystal Palace, which was an obstacle to his previous attempt to assume control of the Blues.
But following the withdrawal of The Friedkin Group earlier this month, Textor is now preparing to renew his efforts to ascend to power at Goodison Park.
Dan Friedkin’s investment vehicle decided against a deal to buy the club due to concerns around an existing loan held by former suitors 777 Partners.
First reported by the Guardian, Textor’s reignited candidacy could see Everton replace Palace in his stable of clubs which also includes Botafogo and Lyon.
The American billionaire previously highlighted the appeal behind his initial interest, despite admitting that his role at Selhurst Park made it unfeasible.
“Everton represents the best of English football: the struggles, the glory, the want,” Textor told the Athletic in May.
“I love that it’s out of London. Everybody should want to buy Everton right now.
“That kind of club is what I’m referring to, where the risk and the reward of your relationship and community is so great and you could come in, make promises and keep them.
“How great would it be to take one of these great English clubs back to sort of glory?
“We’re also looking at other opportunities, and we don’t need to jump right out of Palace right into something. That’d be a mistake.
“I suspect that the problem with Everton is it won’t be available by the time we would be ready for it.
“You can’t own two clubs in one league, and we’re not going to rush the situation at Palace, no matter how good another opportunity looks.”
