Liverpool have delivered an update on former captain Alan Hansen’s health.
The former defender was admitted to hospital earlier this month with his condition described by the club on behalf of his family as ‘seriously ill’.
Reds legend Graeme Souness revealed last week that he had spoken with Hansen and believed that his ex-teammate was ‘definitely on the way back’.
On Sunday, Liverpool relayed a message from Hansen and his family to confirm that the 69-year-old has now been discharged from hospital.
“Alan has been discharged from hospital today to continue his recovery at home,” confirmed a club statement.
“Alan, Janet, Adam, Lucy and family would like to thank everybody for their wonderful messages of love and support. It has been overwhelming and has helped enormously.
“We also hugely appreciate the ongoing respect that has been shown for our privacy as Alan continues his recovery. Thank you.”
